Spotlight on EMEA Series: Dubai / UAE

In our Spotlight on EMEA series we round up the latest developments from across the regions.  In this post we look at the efforts of the UAE Government to streamline applications.  The ‘Work Bundle’ initiative will roll out in Dubai and gradually extend to the other Emirates.

The Work Bundle initiative

The ‘Work Bundle’ is a single platform for the completion of employment services, covering renewal, cancellation, medical examination and fingerprinting.  The idea behind the Work Bundle initiative is to facilitate employee residency procedures and the work permit processes in private sector companies.

A number of authorities have worked together in close co-operation to include both federal and local government entities.  The project is further supported by Digital Dubai which provides the digital infrastructure to ensure seamless data exchange.

Overall, the ‘Work Bundle’ systems seeks to reduce various procedures from eight different services to a single unified platform, at the same time reducing the required steps significantly and reducing the amount of documentation required.  The idea is that the new system should reduce time taken to complete employment services from around 30 days to five working days.

The initiative aligns with the “Zero Bureaucracy” program aimed to simplify and reduce government procedures and eliminate unnecessary requirements.
