Spotlight on APAC Series: Thailand and China

In our spotlight on APAC series, we round up the latest developments across Asia Pacific.

Thailand and China

Previously, since September 2023, Thailand had offered a temporary visa waiver for Chinese citizens. The new agreement expands on this by allowing visa-free stays of up to 30 days for a single entry, or a maximum cumulative stay of 90 days within a 180-day period for multiple entries. This arrangement will commence from 1st March 2024.

It is important to note that this agreement applies only for tourism purposes. Travellers intending to migrate, work, study, engage in journalism, or undertake other activities requiring prior visa approval will still need to apply for the appropriate visa.

We encourage travellers to check the official websites of the Thai and Chinese governments for the latest visa information before booking their trips.
