The new Skilled Worker Route will go live on 1 December 2020. This route replaces the Tier 2 Sponsorship scheme and is at the core of the new approach to UK immigration policy as the country prepares to leave the EU single market on 31 December 2020.
The Home Office has now published an extensive set of guidance documents for employers who wish to understand and remain compliant with the new framework for the employment of skilled workers from outside the resident labour market.
From the end of this year, the resident labour market will consist solely of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. For the first time in a generation, employers who wish to employ citizens of EU27 member states will have to engage with a suite of compliance, record-keeping and reporting obligations.
We will keep all of our clients and professional colleagues updated on the roll-out of the new arrangements.
