In our spotlight on APAC series we round up the latest developments across Asia Pacific. In this post we look at a recent programme launch offering UK citizens streamlined opportunities to work in Australia.
Australia – Innovation and Early Careers Skills Exchange Pilot (IECSEP)
Under the Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement, the Innovation and Early Careers Skills Exchange Pilot (IECSEP) has been initiated, offering UK citizens streamlined opportunities to work in Australia.
Launched on 25 September 2023 with limited spots, this programme aims to bolster the strong ties between the two nations. It introduces two efficient pathways for UK citizens: the Early Careers Skills stream, allowing individuals aged 21-45 to work in Australia for up to 1 year in a field relevant to their organization and the Innovation stream, enabling employment for up to 3 years for those showcasing innovation in designated priority areas.
These pathways provide quicker and more cost-effective processes compared to other skilled visa options by providing access to individuals who might not meet the work experience requirements of sponsored skilled visas.
