South Korea Implements e-Arrival Card for Foreign Travellers

1 mins read 26/02/2025

In our spotlight on APAC series, we round up the latest developments across the region. In this post, South Korea has updated its immigration processes with the introduction of the e-Arrival Card.

Launched on 24 February 2025, the new policy will replace the conventional paper-based arrival form. Every foreign national will be eligible for the e-Arrival Card, except for registered residents of South Korea, airline crew members and holders of a valid Korea Electronic Travel Authorisation.

As a replacement for submitting the paper declaration form to the immigration officer at the airport in South Korea, travellers can now complete the e-Arrival Card online from the official portal in advance. This is to better facilitate and streamline the immigration process, making it efficient and convenient. The immigration authorities will continue to accept the paper-based arrival form until the end of Year 2025, which allows visitors to choose between the two different formats during the adjustment phase.

The e-Arrival Card must be completed online and submitted at least 3 days before arriving in South Korea and it will remain valid for 72 hours after issuance. Necessary documents and information include a passport, ship or flight, contact information, accommodation address, and an email address.

A single declaration of the e-Arrival card can include up to nine additional travellers and printing of the PDF of the e-Arrival Card is not required for travellers. Should there be any information changes after the e-Arrival Card submission, the information can be amended before arriving in South Korea.
