Following in the footsteps of a number of other European countries (Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Greece, Germany for example), Slovenia looks set to introduce a Digital Nomad Visa in November 2025 enabling remote works to live and work in the country for 12 months.
What to consider:
-
This one-year permit allows non-EU/EEA nationals working for foreign companies to reside in Slovenia.
-
The visa is non-extendable but can be applied for again after a period of six months has lapsed (a six month break outside of Slovenia).
-
Applicants must be employed by a company outside Slovenia or be a contractor or freelancer working for a foreign business. Additionally, a self-employed applicant providing services to clients outside Slovenia may also apply.
-
Family members may join the main applicant but cannot work locally.
-
Applicants must demonstrate enough income to support themselves throughout their stay.
