In our spotlight on APAC series, we round up the latest developments across the region. In this post, we capture some notable points on the enhanced online interview feature for certain applications forthcoming for Malaysia.
With effect from August 6, 2025, the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) will implement an enhanced online company interview function within the ESD Online system. Formerly, interviews were not part of the work pass application process but will now be communicated straight through the ESD Online platform.
The enhanced system will introduce various key improvements aimed at delivering a more efficient and accessible application experience. The interview requirements will be communicated straight through the ESD Online platform whereby this will bring enhanced accessibility and clarity to users. Additionally, companies will benefit from greater flexibility in managing interview schedules, including the ability to choose the earliest available slot when rescheduling. The ESD Online platform will also provide clear instructions and guidance on additional documentation and supporting materials required for Employment Pass (EP) or Professional Visit Pass (PVP) within the platform.
These enhancements aim to create a more efficient and clear application experience, aligning with the Immigration Department of Malaysia’s regulatory frameworks and expatriate management processes.
