E-Visa Rollout/BRP card extension to 1 June 2025

As you may already be aware, the Home office rolled out their digital immigration system in 2024 and whilst over 4 million UK visa holders have successfully managed to create an account and access their eVisa, there is still an estimated 600,000 who have not yet transitioned to the eVisa.

The Home Office previously acknowledged that there were some difficulties with people having access to their online account and as a result of this, to make sure that no one is at a disadvantage, allowed individuals to continue to use their biometric residence permit or EU Settlement Scheme (‘EUSS’) biometric residence card, (which expired on 31 December 2024) until 31 March 2025, provided they continue to hold valid leave to remain in the UK.

The Home Office have now acknowledged that there is still a large proportion of the population that does not have access to their digital account/eVisa and therefore have extended the end date from 31 March 2025 to 1 June 2025. They have committed to keeping this transitional measure under review.

From 2 June 2025, expired BRPs and EUSS BRC’s will not longer be acceptable evidence of immigration status when travelling to the UK.

We would advise that all individuals endeavour to set up their digital account as soon as possible to avoid any issues or delays. If you require any support, please contact our team who would be more than happy to guide you further.
