It was announced that the Immigration and Nationality (Fees) (Amendment) Order 2025 was laid before Parliament on 16th January 2025, with the following proposed changes to the Immigration fees:

  • The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) fee increasing from £10 to £16.

  • Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) fee increasing from £239 to £525. This is notably more than double the current fee.

  • Naturalisation as a British citizen increasing  from £1,500 to £1,605.

  • Naturalisation as a British Overseas Territories citizen increasing £1,000 to £1,070.

These adjustments are expected to generate an additional £269 million a year.

The government’s proposals are currently under review.

We do not yet have a date for implementation, but historically fee changes are often introduced at the start of the financial year, in April.
