1 January 2027 is not the crunch point – the next 4 months are!

Anyone with 6 months’ service on 1 January 2027 will have unfair dismissal rights. No more thinking that probation is a box checking exercise. No more thinking you have plenty of time to see if someone “fits” or for them to get into their stride. They are either performing or they are not and if they are not, then they need to be managed out effectively and efficiently, within the first 6 months of employment. So, in relation to anyone hired after 30 June 2026 who might not quite be cutting it… tick tock!

HR can implement processes, update probation policies, disciplinary procedures, and performance plans but ultimately the people at the sharp end need to be doing their job properly. Managers need to manage!

Join Adele Martins as she discusses the importance of effective management and how HR teams can reduce risk in the brave new world of 6 month unfair dismissal rights.
