Every person within a workforce has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.  Discrimination and harassment have no place in society or a modern workplace and it is critical that employers do everything in their power to ensure that their workplace is free of such behaviours.  Should claims of discrimination or harassment be made they must be dealt with firmly and fairly if Employment Tribunal claims are to be avoided.  Whilst an employee requires 2 years continuous service in order to bring a claim for unfair dismissal, there is no such requirement for claims relating to discrimination, everyone is protected from applicants to employees, consultants to directors.
