Shared Parental Leave comes into force in less than 3 months. It will apply to all babies with a due date of 5 April 2015 (even if the baby is born earlier). Similar provisions will also come into force in relation to adoptions.
The regulations are complex, and employers are naturally concerned about the practical implications. How will Shared Parental Leave actually work? What will happen if both employees work for the same organisation or if one is unemployed? What are an employer’s obligations in relation to monitoring and checking an employee’s rights?
