Ben is a senior partner in the corporate immigration department of Magrath LLP, one of the UK's leading commercial immigration practices. He is recognised as a leading UK Immigration expert by the legal community and is acclaimed by both Legal 500 and Chambers Directory for his expertise in immigration law and his experience of the financial services sector in particular. As immigration counsel to major city institutions, Ben has spoken on numerous occasions to the financial round table and other leading fora.
Ben provides advice and assistance to major multi-national companies and individuals of all nationalities seeking work authorization, skilled migrant visas, family reunion and UK entry-clearance.
Ben has experience in strategic immigration planning for large organizations and assists international assignment departments and human resources managers to develop compliance and legal right to work policies.
More recently Ben has contributed to the implementation of the Point Based System by organising and chairing stakeholder meetings with UKBA officials and directors of PBS policy.
Ben lectures on immigration issues for organizations such as BPP Professional Development, Central Law Training and the Immigration Law Practitioners Association (ILPA). He contributes to a number of publications including In-house Lawyer. He is actively involved with the economic migration sub-committee of ILPA.
He was called to the Bar in 1994 and practiced as a barrister for a number of years before joining the solicitor's profession. At the Bar he focused on immigration appeals including applications for Judicial Review of decisions of the Secretary of State. He also took cases to the Court of Appeal and the European Court of Justice.
