2009 - Spain - New Law on Foreign Nationals' rights and freedom
Under the new Law on Foreign Nationals' rights and freedom, unmarried/de facto couples are now included in the re-groupable family nucleus. It would appear however that such couples are required to provide a document issued by their country of origin confirming that the relationship is genuine. This is likely to be an issue since only people who have entered into a civil relationship are in position to provide such a document.
Accompanying/dependant children of 16 years of age are now entitled to work.
New rules have also been introduced to transpose the European Blue Card directive.
Further information on the implementation of the Blue Card / Tarjeta Azul will become available shortly.
