New Compensation Limits

The annual increase in compensation limits applying to certain employment tribunal awards has now been published.

The maximum amount of "a week's pay" used for the purposes of calculating statutory redundancy payments (or for various awards including the basic award for unfair dismissal) will increase from £330 to £350.

The minimum basic award for certain automatically unfair dismissals will increase from £4,400 to £4,700.

The maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal will increase from £63,000 to £66,200.
The increases will apply where the event giving rise to the entitlement to compensation or other payments occurred on or after 1 February 2009.
