“Increase in H-1B Visa Fee Dropped from Pending Legislation in U.S. Congress

U.S. House and Senate conferees attempting to reconcile difference on their respective versions of appropriations legislation funding the Departments of Labour, Education  and Health and Human Services have dropped a provision previously approved by the Senate that would have increased H-1B visa fees from $1500 to $5000.  This means that the proposed increase will not be part of the final appropriation measure to be voted on by both Houses and submitted to President Bush for signature. “
